 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. SCHOOL PROTECTION SECURITY:

PROACTIVE POLICING AS DELTA POLICE ENGAGE HEADS OF SCHOOLS, STRENGTHEN SCHOOL SAFETY.

In a decisive move to consolidate public safety and protect educational institutions, the Delta State Police Command on 17th December 2025, held a strategic security meeting with heads of public and private schools across the State. The meeting, convened on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, with the Coordinator of the Safe School Initiative in Delta State, ACP George Efeizomor, and key education stakeholders in attendance.

The engagement, which had sixty-two (62) heads of schools and teachers present, focused on reinforcing school safety in view of recent cases of student abductions recorded in parts of the country. Key issues discussed included the fencing of school premises, the installation of surveillance cameras, the engagement of local vigilantes, improved collaboration between schools and security agencies, as well as emerging concerns such as parental interference and the misuse of mobile phones during school hours.


Addressing participants, ACP George Efeizomor assured of sustained police support and urged school heads to maintain direct communication with their respective DPOs and Area Commanders. Emergency control room numbers were also shared to enhance prompt reporting and rapid response.

Reassuring stakeholders, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, through his representative, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, noting that adequate deployments, intelligence-led patrols, and rapid response mechanisms have been activated across the State, particularly around schools, throughout the Ember Months. The Delta State Police Command reiterates that the State remains relatively peaceful and calls on school administrators, parents, and community stakeholders to continue supporting security efforts to safeguard students, teachers, and school facilities.
