 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kano State Command, has arrested two women for allegedly attempting to smuggle illicit drugs into the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Goron Dutse, Kano.


The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Musbahu Lawan, disclosed this in a statement released on Monday, December 22.


Lawan said the suspects identified as Maryam Ali,19,and Hauwa Musa, 20-year-old, both residents of Kano State, were apprehended during routine security checks while attempting to gain access to the custodial centre on Dec. 21, 2025.


According to him, the women were found in possession of suspected illicit drugs, which preliminary investigations indicated were meant to be supplied to inmates within the facility.


Lawan said that the act constituted a serious violation of the NCoS regulations and is a criminal offence under the relevant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.


He stated that the suspects had been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and necessary legal action.
