 South Africa says US misrepresented its policies after visa curbs South Africa's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that it ‌had noted with concern U.S. visa restrictions on some people from South Africa announced by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio a day earlier. The foreign ministry added in a statement that ⁠the U.S. announcement aligned with "the mischaracterisation of South Africa's domestic policies by fringe groups". "We maintain that challenges in our bilateral relations with the USA can only be resolved by constructive engagement through state actors on both sides of the diplomatic channel not unilateral acts," the statement said, Reuters reported. Trump has repeatedly criticized ‌South ⁠Africa since the start of his second term for what he falsely claims is the racial persecution of its white minority, citing affirmative action laws aimed at ⁠addressing the inequality that has persisted since apartheid.  FCTA STAFF BEGIN INDEFINITE STRIKE


Activities at the the Secretariats of the Federal Capital Territory Administration and the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA have been grounded following the strike embarked upon by  the Joint Union Action Committee over demands for improved working conditions.


As early as Monday morning, the main gates of the secretariats of the Federal Capital Territory Administration and the Federal Capital Development Authority  were under lock, preventing staff and visitors from gaining access to the complex for their daily routines. 


Many workers remained at home in strict compliance with the industrial action in order to press home their demands, for a better working condition in the FCTA.


The JUAC Chairperson urges members to maintain the status quo until further directives. 


Long queues of vehicles were seen parked on the road shoulders which are indications of no retreat no surrender by the leadership of the JUAC.
