 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  "I received the sad news of the passing of the Aholu of Badagry and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Aholu Babatunde Akran, Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi I, who joined his ancestors at the age of 89.


For nearly 49 years on the throne, he served with wisdom, humility, and deep commitment to his people. He was a former journalist who brought clarity and balance into his leadership as a traditional ruler, always working to preserve Badagry’s culture while also encouraging development.


He united his people, promoted Badagry’s history and festivals, and gave his time selflessly to the growth of his community.


I extend my heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the people of Badagry, and all who were close to him. I pray that God grants them the strength to bear this great loss, and that the soul of Aholu Babatunde Akran rests in perfect peace".
