 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  "I received the sad news of the passing of the Aholu of Badagry and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Aholu Babatunde Akran, Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi I, who joined his ancestors at the age of 89.


For nearly 49 years on the throne, he served with wisdom, humility, and deep commitment to his people. He was a former journalist who brought clarity and balance into his leadership as a traditional ruler, always working to preserve Badagry’s culture while also encouraging development.


He united his people, promoted Badagry’s history and festivals, and gave his time selflessly to the growth of his community.


I extend my heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the people of Badagry, and all who were close to him. I pray that God grants them the strength to bear this great loss, and that the soul of Aholu Babatunde Akran rests in perfect peace".
