HON.TISEER FIRES BACK AT ASORTAR, DENIES PLOT AGAINST GOV.ALIA, THREATENS LEGAL ACTION

30th January, 2026

A former Majority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly and current lawmaker representing Mbagwa State Constituency, Hon. Saater Tiseer, has issued a strong rebuttal to what he described as “false and malicious” allegations levelled against him by Mr. Asortar James Asortar.

Tiseer, in a statement on Friday, reacted to Facebook posts made by Asortar on January 29 and 30, 2026, which accused him of supplying sensitive Benue State House of Assembly documents to certain individuals to facilitate the drafting of a petition against Governor Hyacinth Alia. The posts also alleged that the lawmaker met with the Benue State PDP Secretary, Hon. Dan Nyikwagh, to finalise the purported petition.

Describing the claims as “a complete fabrication,” Tiseer said he never, at any time, released any official documents to anyone for such purposes, nor did he attend any meeting aimed at plotting or perfecting a petition against the governor.

“I state clearly and unequivocally that these allegations are false, baseless and malicious,” he declared.

The lawmaker stressed that as an elected member of the Benue State House of Assembly, he occupies a position of trust and responsibility that does not require the use of proxy petition writers or secret meetings to engage any sitting governor, if the need ever arose.

He further noted that the office he holds is one his accuser could only “envy and aspire to,” adding that such claims were designed to damage his reputation and mislead the public.

Tiseer demanded an immediate retraction of the publication and a public apology within seven days, using the same platform through which the allegations were circulated.

He warned that failure to comply would leave him with no option but to instruct his lawyers to seek legal redress, including damages and compensation, over what he termed an injurious and defamatory publication.

“I reserve my rights,” the lawmaker added.
