Kremlin says Putin has received invitation to join Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been invited to join the U.S.-backed “Board of Peace” for Gaza, the Kremlin confirmed Monday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow is reviewing the details of the offer, which came through diplomatic channels. The council, created last year by U.S. President Donald Trump, is intended to maintain the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and oversee reconstruction efforts in Gaza. “President Putin has indeed received an offer… We are currently studying all the details of this proposal,” Peskov said, adding that Russian officials hope to contact Washington to clarify the terms.

Trump has reportedly invited several world leaders to join the Board of Peace for Gaza, including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Argentine President Javier Milei. Other countries, such as Hungary, India, Jordan, Greece, Cyprus, and Pakistan, have also confirmed invitations. Reports indicate the Trump administration plans to charge nations $1 billion to secure permanent seats on the board.

Putin’s potential inclusion has drawn attention due to Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine, now approaching its four-year mark, which has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths among soldiers and civilians.

The U.S. has also named members of a “founding Executive Board” to oversee the council’s work, including former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair, Jared Kushner, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Israel has expressed dissatisfaction with the council’s formation. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Friday that the announcement of the Gaza Executive Board, a subset of the larger Board of Peace, “was not coordinated with Israel and runs contrary to its policy.”
