Trump says he will not use force to seize Greenland in Davos address

President Donald Trump addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Wednesday, stating that Greenland’s defense ultimately falls to the United States.

Trump emphasized his respect for both Greenland and Denmark, but argued that no NATO ally is capable of defending the territory. “No nation or group of nations is in any position to be able to secure Greenland other than the United States. We’re a great power,” he said. He described Greenland as “sitting undefended” and said he is pursuing “immediate negotiations to once again discuss the acquisition of Greenland by the United States.”
