 PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE COMMENDS RESILIENCE OF NIGERIAN WORKERS President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio has congratulated Nigerian workers on International Labour Day 2026, praising their resilience, hard work, and patriotism despite economic challenges. In his May Day message, Akpabio described workers as the true heroes of Nigeria’s democracy and the engine of the economy. He said the 10th National Assembly remains committed to improving worker welfare through a living wage, safer workplaces, pension reforms, and job creation and pointed to the passage of the new National Minimum Wage Act and ongoing welfare packages as evidence of that commitment.  The Senate President also urged both public and private employers to prioritize worker welfare, stating that a motivated workforce is key to national productivity and prosperity pledging that the Senate will continue partnering with labour unions to ensure workers’ voices are heard in policymaking, vowing not to relent until ev...

 ANAMBRA POLICE ARRESTS A MOTEL OWNER AND TWO OTHERS: RECOVERS FIREARM AND HARD DRUGS IN UKE, IDEMILI NORTH LGA


The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 39-year old man, Mr Ifeanyi Ibeabuchi, Abdullahi Shaibu ‘M’ aged 26 years and Obah Chima ‘M’ aged 18 years respectively over unlawful possession of a firearm and involvement in illicit drug activities at Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area.


The Police Operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu, acting on credible information in the late hours of 9th February 2026, stormed a motel located in Uke where the criminals were arrested. 


During the search, one Jojef pump action gun with breach number 21SA-0724, loaded with three live cartridges was recovered at the scene. Also, Mr Ifeanyi confessed to the crime as investigations led to the arrest of the other two suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, Crystal Methamphetamine, Colos, and Mkpuru-mmiri. 


The Command reiterates its commitment to sustaining ongoing operations against criminal elements in the State and urges members of the public to continue providing useful information to aid policing efforts.


Further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
