Bandits Kidnap Catechist, Pregnant Wife, 30 Others In Kaduna – Catholic priest

The Parish Priest of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Rev. Fr. Linus Matthew Bobai, has revealed that bandits attacked their community and abducted the church’s catechist, his pregnant wife, and about 30 other residents.

Fr. Bobai disclosed this on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television, where he described the situation in the community as tense and distressing.

He said many residents have fled to nearby villages out of fear.

According to him, soldiers from a neighbouring community arrived shortly after the attack and conducted a brief patrol before leaving.

“We are helpless at the moment. The entire community is gripped by fear. More than 98 percent of residents have relocated to a nearby village. Those of us who slept here last night were fewer than 40,” he said.

The priest added that even more people left later in the evening due to ongoing fears of further attacks.

“Many are afraid, and understandably so. Some of us are scared too, but as pastors, we cannot abandon the community. We have encouraged a few others to remain so we can continue to look after the area,” Fr. Bobai stated.
