Concerned Resident Appeals To Gov. Uba Sani Over Dilapidated Facilities At Government Secondary School Kufana

A concerned resident of Kufana community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State has appealed to Governor Uba Sani to urgently intervene in the deteriorating condition of Government Secondary School, Kufana, citing severe infrastructural challenges confronting the institution.

In an open letter addressed to the governor, the resident lamented the poor state of facilities in the school, noting that several classrooms have been abandoned due to dilapidation, thereby hampering effective teaching and learning.

The letter also disclosed that the school lacks a functional science laboratory, a situation said to be undermining proper science education and denying students access to essential practical learning.

The appeal further revealed that the school was recently at risk of being disqualified from participating in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC) due to inadequate facilities and the absence of a standard examination hall, a development that caused concern among students, parents, and education stakeholders in the community.

According to the resident, the absence of basic amenities such as standard toilet facilities and a reliable water supply within the school premises poses serious health risks to students and teachers, while also failing to provide a safe, hygienic, and conducive learning environment.

The concerned resident emphasized that education remains a critical tool for youth development and societal progress, adding that upgrading facilities at the school would improve academic performance, enhance student welfare, encourage enrollment in public schools, and help reduce dropout rates.

The appeal called on the Kaduna State Government to prioritize the renovation of abandoned and dilapidated classrooms, construct a standard and well-equipped science laboratory, provide functional toilet facilities, and install a reliable water supply system within the school.

The resident expressed hope that the governor’s intervention would restore hope to the students of Government Secondary School, Kufana, and further demonstrate the administration’s commitment to educational development in the state.
