 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  DAVID MARK CALLS FOR LONGER LEGISLATIVE TERMS, SAYS ONE TERM IS NOT ENOUGH

Former Senate President and ADC National Chairman, David Mark, has called for lawmakers to be allowed multiple terms, arguing that a single term is insufficient to deliver effective legislation.


Mark made the remarks on Saturday during the launch of The Burden of Legislators in Nigeria, a book authored by former Senator Effiong Bob.


Speaking on his 20-year experience representing Benue South Senatorial District, Mark said first-term lawmakers often struggle with parliamentary procedures, and it takes time to become fully effective.


“I spent 20 years in the Senate, and I’m very grateful to my electorate. Legislators need more than one term, two, three terms to make a real impact,” he said.


The call comes amid renewed third-term ambitions in Benue State, including his daughter, Blessing Onuh, seeking re-election to the House of Representatives for Otukpo/Ohimini, and his Senate successor, Abba Moro, pursuing a third term.


Mark insisted that experienced lawmakers wield greater influence and are better positioned to serve their constituents. “In the first four years, you are lost. You need more than that,” he added.
