 Kate Hudson reveals why she was 'so happy' she didn't have her famous mother's last name


Kate Hudson has spoken candidly about her upbringing, insisting that despite being the daughter of Goldie Hawn and musician Bill Hudson, she was not raised with the kind of privilege many assume. 


On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, she explained that her parents instilled discipline and a strong work ethic, refusing to hand her or her brother Oliver anything. While acknowledging that she grew up in a privileged environment, Hudson emphasized that her parents made it clear she would need to earn her own success. 


She contrasted her experience with peers in Los Angeles who received luxury cars and gifts, noting that her family valued effort over entitlement.


Hudson credited her mother and longtime stepfather Kurt Russell, whom she considers her true father figure, for shaping her determination to succeed independently. 


She recalled being adamant about not relying on her parents’ fame or connections when starting her acting career, even taking pride in her last name being Hudson rather than Hawn. 


Reflecting on her journey, she said she carried her parents’ lessons to heart, refusing to take jobs because of them and committing to proving herself through discipline and talent. These values, she explained, became the foundation of her career in Hollywood.


Her reflections come at a time when Hudson is enjoying renewed recognition. At the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards in London, she turned heads in a red silk Prada gown while celebrating her nomination for Best Leading Actress, 25 years after her first nod in the same category. 


She also received the Spotlight Award at the Costume Designers Guild Awards earlier in February, honoring her appreciation for costume design throughout her career. 


Looking back, Hudson said she wouldn’t change her past decisions, even the mistakes, though she joked that she wished she had kept more of her iconic outfits.

Innoson Gives Out Brand New IVM G5 and Salary For Life To The Man Who Prophesied About His Vehicle Manufacturing In 1979.  Last Saturday, July 22nd the Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd, Chief Dr Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma OFR gave out a brand new Innoson IVM G5 to Mr Ikechukwu Osakwe popularly known as Osabros who prophesied to him in 1979 that he would be the first man in Africa to manufacture vehicles and sell to different African countries.  The prophecy was given at the period the then Innocent Chukwuma could not boast of a car, talk less of manufacturing one.
