 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. META WILL CLOSE STANDALONE MESSENGER WEBSITE. (PHOTO).

 Meta will close standalone Messenger website

Meta is shutting down its standalone Messenger website, effective April 2026. After that date, users who want to send and receive messages on a computer will be redirected to facebook.com/messages. Messaging will still be available through the Facebook website or the Messenger mobile app.

Users without a Facebook account will need to use the Messenger app on mobile to continue conversations. Chat history can be restored using the PIN set when the backup was created, with a reset option available if the PIN is forgotten. This move follows the recent closure of Messenger’s standalone desktop apps for Windows and Mac, and comes as Meta continues consolidating the service to reduce maintenance costs. Messenger originally launched as Facebook Chat in 2008 and became a standalone app in 2011, with its integration into Facebook mobile returning in 2023.
