Ryan Seacrest is setting the record straight about his love life, shutting down speculation about his presence on dating apps.
The American Idol host addressed recent questions on his March 30 radio show, On Air With Ryan Seacrest, after a joke he made about looking for love on Tinder caught the public’s attention.
“People keep asking if I’m on Tinder,” Seacrest said. “Well, I’m not. I think I made a joke about Tinder on Wheel of Fortune.”
During the March 16 episode of the long-running game show, which had a “Love Is in the Air” theme, the 51-year-old playfully quipped, “And I’ll be on Tinder tonight so I can find it,” prompting headlines that suggested he had joined the platform.
Seacrest clarified the comment during the radio segment. “OK, fine, got it. Anyway, I said it jokingly,” he told co-host Tanya Rad.
The media personality has a well-documented dating history, including relationships with Julianne Hough from 2010 to 2013 and an on-and-off romance with Shayna Taylor between 2013 and 2020. He also dated model Aubrey Paige from 2021 to 2024.
Despite this, Seacrest has never been married, though he has revealed he came close to proposing to a former partner.
“I did get close and I didn’t do it,” he shared during a May 2017 episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan. “It was the right move, but I love the idea [of marriage].”
Seacrest has also explained why he has waited on marriage for so long, blending humor with honesty.
“I have this thing that I don’t want to screw it up, and a lot of times, they get screwed up,” he said.
He added jokingly, “I figure the longer I wait, the older I’ll be, the closer to death I am, so I can get it in and not screw it up.”
