 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24.  Israel kills top Iranian naval commander in precise strike on Bandar Abbas 

Israel’s military announced Thursday that Iranian naval commander Alireza Tangsiri was killed in a targeted strike in Bandar Abbas, accusing him of orchestrating efforts to block the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz. The Israeli Defense Forces said Tangsiri oversaw maritime attacks against Middle Eastern nations and targeted energy infrastructure belonging to the U.S. and other countries. The U.S. Central Command confirmed his death, with CentCom commander Admiral Brad Cooper calling the strike a step toward regional safety and stating that operations against the Iranian navy would continue. Iran has not issued a response.

The strike also reportedly killed Behnam Rezaei, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy Intelligence Directorate. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the military continues to target Iranian regime figures, describing Tangsiri as responsible for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and highlighting ongoing U.S.-Israel cooperation in military efforts. The Israeli military has previously targeted Iran’s intelligence minister Esmail Khatib, senior security official Ali Larijani, and Basij commander Gholamreza Soleimani. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has been severely disrupted since the U.S. and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran in late February, with Iran retaliating against vessels attempting passage in recent weeks.
