MAGA actor James Woods mocked after claiming he's 'done with the Republican Party'

James Woods, the 78‑year‑old actor known for Ghosts of Mississippi, announced that he is leaving the Republican Party and registering as an independent. He made the declaration on X, citing frustration with GOP leadership in Congress.

Woods criticized Republican lawmakers for blocking a measure to investigate Democratic Rep.

Ilhan Omar, calling them “uniparty traitors” and linking his decision to broader dissatisfaction with how the party has handled accountability.

His remarks quickly went viral, drawing both ridicule and support online. Some users mocked the timing of his departure, questioning why he had remained loyal until now, while others dismissed his relevance in Hollywood.

At the same time, several voices within the MAGA movement expressed solidarity, agreeing with his critique of Republican leadership and urging grassroots pressure campaigns to push for legislation like the SAVE Act.

The episode underscores ongoing divisions within the GOP over how aggressively to pursue investigations against political opponents.

While Woods’ comments highlight frustration among some Trump supporters, other Republicans have cautioned that pursuing inquiries without solid evidence could backfire.

The mixed reaction to Woods’ announcement reflects both the polarization of political discourse and the challenges facing party unity.
