 Ghana's president, in New York, says US is 'normalizing' the erasure of Black history Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, ​speaking in New York on Tuesday, criticized the U.S. administration for what he described as normalizing the ‌erasure of Black history, warning that such policies could have ripple effects elsewhere. Since his return to power, U.S. President Donald Trump has targeted U.S. cultural and historical institutions - from museums to monuments to national parks - to remove what he calls "anti-American" ideology, Reuters reported. His declarations and executive orders ​have led to the dismantling of slavery exhibits, the restoration of Confederate statues and other moves that civil ​rights advocates say could reverse decades of social progress.  POLICE FOIL CULT INITIATION, ARREST TWO SUSPECTS IN UYO, AKWA IBOM STATE


The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another operational breakthrough in its sustained crackdown on cultism and related criminal activities across the State.


A Statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John indicates that the operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence,  mobilized to an uncompleted building located off Oron Road, Uyo, where members of the notorious Red Skin Confraternity were reportedly conducting initiation activities.


On sighting the Police patrol team, the suspects took to their heels in a desperate attempt to evade arrest.


The operatives, however, engaged them in a hot chase, which led to the arrest of two suspects, Clement  Edem  and Isaac  Henry 


Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects are active members of the Red Skin Confraternity and were participating in an initiation exercise before the operation disrupted their activities. 


The suspects have provided useful information, including the names of other members of the cult group currently at large.


The Command reiterates its zero tolerance for cultism and warns all criminal elements to desist from such unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.


The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, assures residents, of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
