 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24.  GOVERNOR IDRIS MOURNS KEBBI ASSEMBLY SPEAKER MUHAMMAD USMAN ZURU


Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, describing it as a monumental loss to the state and the nation.


The Speaker, Muhammad Usman Zuru, died on Monday, April 6, 2026, at a hospital in Cairo, Egypt, where he had been receiving treatment for a prolonged illness.


In a condolence message, Governor Idris said he received the news with shock and a heavy heart, noting that the late Speaker was a trusted ally, a committed lawmaker, and an outstanding leader.


He described the deceased as a pillar of legislative stability and democratic governance, whose dedication, humility, and wisdom earned him widespread respect across the state.


The Governor stated that the death of the Speaker has created a significant vacuum in the leadership of Kebbi State, adding that his calm disposition and commitment to unity and progress would be greatly missed.


Governor Idris prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, the State House of Assembly, and the people of Kebbi the strength to bear the loss.


Muhammad Usman Zuru, born on April 5, 1970, is survived by his wife and five children.
