Mel B has poured cold water on hopes of a Spice Girls reunion, revealing that plans for a 30th anniversary comeback are not on the table and admitting she may never share the stage with her former bandmates again.
The singer, who rose to global fame in 1996 alongside Mel C, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, and Geri Horner, made the revelation in a candid new interview that is likely to disappoint longtime fans of the iconic girl group.
“I can tell you it is not happening,” Mel B said, speaking directly about the reunion rumours. “If it does, it’ll be a shock to me.”
Her comments appear to put an end, at least for now, to growing speculation that the group would mark three decades since their debut with a major comeback.
Reflecting on the group’s 2019 UK tour, which saw four members reunite without Victoria Beckham, Mel B admitted that experience still holds a special place in her heart.
“When I look back at that and the feeling it gave me, I was in my element,” she said. “But there comes a time, I’m 50 now. You can’t keep nagging everyone to go on tour if they don’t want to. I laid that to rest when I turned 50.”
Even with the deep bond she still shares with the women who helped define a generation of pop culture, Mel B suggested that even if a reunion offer came later, she is no longer certain she would say yes.
“I’ve got a lot of respect and love for those girls,” she said. “I wouldn’t be sitting here if it wasn’t for being part of the Spice Girls. They’ve done a lot for me in my life, and I’ve got fond memories, but I honestly don’t know if I’d want to go back up on stage.”
Beyond the reunion talk, Mel B also addressed reports of a proposed Netflix documentary centered on the group.
While confirming that discussions had taken place, she appeared to hint that the project has stalled because not everyone involved is willing to be fully open.
“It has to be done in the right way, and it has to be honest,” she said. “And not everybody wants to be honest.”
Her remarks seem to echo wider reports that internal tensions have made it difficult for major projects involving all five members to move forward.
Mel C also recently addressed the reunion rumours, confirming that nothing is currently in the works, though she left the door slightly open.
“No, there is no reunion,” she said in a radio interview. “We are communicating all the time. We want to do something, who knows when. But I still feel optimistic.”
There had also been reports of a Netflix drama inspired by the group’s journey, with speculation that each member stood to earn a significant payday.
However, earlier claims suggested behind-the-scenes disagreements, particularly involving Geri and Mel B, may have complicated progress.
