 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. The planes have brought in technical ​equipment as well as dozens of physicians, engineers, lab experts and construction work...

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Saheed Ademola Elegushi, on his 50th birthday, describing him as a visionary and compassionate leader.


In a statement by Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, the President rejoices with the monarch’s family, members of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, the Lagos State Traditional Council, as well as sons and daughters of the kingdom, saying Oba Elegushi has demonstrated vision, grace, wisdom and courage in balancing tradition with modernity.


President Tinubu commended the monarch’s commitment to the development of his people, particularly through initiatives in education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship since ascending the throne sixteen years ago.


He noted that the monarch has embraced technology and global best practices to drive development in areas such as agriculture and skills acquisition.


The President also recalled their working relationship during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, where Oba Elegushi served as Special Assistant and later Senior Special Assistant, highlighting his empathy and dedication to public service.


President Tinubu prayed for continued good health, long life, and wisdom for the monarch as he continues to serve his people and the nation.
