 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24.  World Health Day: Nwora Reaffirms Commitment to Improved Healthcare in Onitsha North

The Mayor of Onitsha North Local Government Area, Hon. Tony Nwora, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery as the world marks World Health Day.


In a statement commemorating the day, Nwora commended residents for their cooperation during recent health facility assessments, noting that community support remains vital to improving public health services.


He said that his administration has recorded progress in the health sector, including the renovation of selected healthcare centres and the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery across the local government.


The mayor emphasized that ongoing efforts are focused on expanding access to quality healthcare and sustaining improvements already achieved. He also encouraged residents to take proactive steps in monitoring their health and making use of available medical facilities.


Nwora reiterated that his government would continue to prioritize healthcare development, stressing that improved health outcomes are essential to the overall wellbeing and growth of the community.


World Health Day is observed annually to raise awareness on key health issues and promote actions that support better health for all.
