 Sokoto State Police Foils Bandits Attacks, Recovers 368 Rustled Animals  The Sokoto State Police Command has foiled two separate Bandits attacks in Shagari and Rabah Local Government Areas, recovering a total of 368 rustled domestic Animals following coordinated operations by Security Agencies. A statement by the Command's Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa'i, armed Bandits on Tuesday, attacked Horo Birni and Marake Villages in Shagari Local Government Area, shooting sporadically and rustling an unspecified number of livestock. It says, the Divisional Police Officer in Shagari immediately mobilised Tactical Teams, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Village Crime Response Unit (VCRU) and Personnel of the Military Forward Operating Base to the affected Communities. The Anambra State Police Command has called on members of the public to remain calm following the circulation of a disturbing viral video showing two young women physically assaulting another girl in Umueri.


The Command confirms that one of the suspects, Chidimma Ogugua, aged 19, has been arrested and is currently in Police custody, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the other fleeing suspect.


Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim was subjected to physical abuse following a disagreement. The Command strongly condemns the act, describing it as cruel, inhuman, and a clear violation of the law.


The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, reassures the public that justice will be served and reiterates the Command’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of all individuals, especially vulnerable persons.


The Command further urges anyone with useful information that could aid the ongoing investigation or lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspect to come forward, assuring that such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
