 Farina, Illinois- Shane Lother, a 38-year-old high school teacher has been arrested for grooming and traveling to meet a minor. He remains at the Marion County Jail in Salem, Illinois. The main district that released the statement below is located in Kinmundy and the school Lother was employed at is located in Farina.  The South Central Community Unit School District 401 has released that they have learned an employee from the South Central high School in Farina, Illinois, was arrested today, May 8th. The employee was arrested for having alleged inappropriate relations with a student. Kinmundy police were assisted by the Salem Police while arresting the employee.  The school district shared that they learned about the allegations on February 26th of this year, and immediately upon learning of the allegations, an investigation was started with authorities as well as DCFS becoming involved. DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND INTERCEPT ARMED SUSPECTS, RECOVER TWO PUMP ACTION GUNS AND SEVEN LIVE CARTRIDGES


Operatives of the Buffalo Patrol Team of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three armed suspects and recovered two pump action guns loaded with seven live cartridges during a routine stop-and-search operation at the Head Bridge, Asaba.


On 6 May 2026 at about 1906hrs when the patrol team, while conducting a strategic stop-and-search operation at Head bridge Asaba, the boundary between Delta and Anambra States, intercepted a black Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep with registration number ABJ 254 CD for routine checks. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Chukwu Emeka Okeke, male, aged 30 years; Ndudo Tochukwu, male, aged 37 years; and Oraka Kaosiso Chukwu, male, aged 34 years.


Acting on reasonable suspicion, the operatives carried out a detailed search of the vehicle, during which two pump action guns and seven rounds of live cartridges were recovered. The suspects were immediately arrested and taken into custody.


The suspects and the recovered exhibits are in custody while investigation is ongoing.


The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism. He reiterated the Command’s resolve to sustain proactive policing and intelligence-driven operations aimed at curbing the movement of illegal arms and other criminal activities across the State.
