 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. The planes have brought in technical ​equipment as well as dozens of physicians, engineers, lab experts and construction work...

EDO POLICE RECOVER 36 ROUNDS OF LIVE CARTRIDGES, ARREST SUSPECT IN BENIN


The Edo State Police Command has recorded another operational success with the recovery of thirty-six (36) rounds of live cartridges and the arrest of a suspect during a routine stop-and-search operation in Benin City.


On 23rd May, 2026, at about 1300hrs, officers attached to Ikpoba Hill Area Command, while on stop-and-search duty at Guobadia Junction along the Benin–Auchi Road, intercepted a mini bus conveying seven passengers from Benin–Auchi Bypass to Ring Road, Benin City.


During the operation, three male passengers suddenly abandoned their belongings and attempted to flee the scene. The officers swiftly gave chase and successfully apprehended one of the fleeing suspects identified as Richard Gabriel, 36 years old, from Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State.


A search conducted on the suspect’s bag led to the recovery of thirty-six (36) rounds of live cartridges concealed therein. 


The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika,fdc commends the vigilance and professionalism of the officers involved in the operation and reassures residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the State.
