 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. The planes have brought in technical ​equipment as well as dozens of physicians, engineers, lab experts and construction work...

FAMILARISATION VISIT: LASERC HOSTS NEWLY APPOINTED PERMANENT SECRETARY, ENGR. KASUMU


The newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. Ibilola Kasunmu paid a familiarisation visit to the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC), where she emphasised the importance of teamwork, unity, and collaboration in achieving the Commission’s regulatory objectives in line with the THEMES Plus Agenda of the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu administration.


During the visit, Engr. Kasunmu described the Ministry and LASERC as “one family,” stressing the need for continuous cooperation, institutional synergy, and collective commitment toward advancing sustainable energy development and strengthening the electricity market in Lagos State.


She commended the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Members, management, and staff of LASERC for their dedication, professionalism, and contributions to the growth and transformation of the energy sector in the State. 


The Permanent Secretary also assured the Commission of her support and readiness to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the State’s energy policies and regulatory framework.


Earlier, while welcoming the visiting Permanent Secretary, the Chief Executive Officer of LASERC, Mrs. Temitope George, provided an overview of the Commission’s activities, reaffirming LASERC’s vision "To be the leading electricity regulator facilitating sustainable electricity and enhancing the quality of life for all residents of Lagos State".


The visit further reinforced LASERC’s commitment to smart regulation, effective regulation, consumer protection, and the delivery of reliable and sustainable electricity services for the people of Lagos State.
