 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 ICPC Explains Why ADC Leaders Were Denied Access To El-Rufai


The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has clarified why leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) were prevented from visiting former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, saying the action was based on an existing court order.


Speaking to journalists on Saturday, ICPC spokesperson John Odey said the commission received a letter from the ADC requesting permission for some party leaders, including Rauf Aregbesola and Bolaji Abdullahi, to visit El-Rufai.


According to Odey, the commission replied to the party on May 21, informing them that the visit could not be approved because the court order only permits access to El-Rufai’s immediate family members, legal representatives, and medical doctors.


He stated that the ADC was officially notified before its members arrived at the commission’s office, adding that evidence showed the party acknowledged receipt of the letter.


Odey also rejected claims that ADC leaders were harassed or intimidated by security operatives during the visit. 


He explained that the armed police officers seen at the commission’s headquarters were part of the regular security presence usually stationed at the facility.


The ICPC maintained that it would continue to comply strictly with the court’s directive and could not allow access to individuals outside the approved categories.


Earlier, the ADC accused the anti-corruption agency of blocking its leaders from seeing El-Rufai and alleged that heavily armed police officers were deployed to intimidate opposition figures.


El-Rufai is currently facing trial on nine amended charges linked to alleged violations of anti-corruption, fraud, and procurement laws. 


The former governor has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
