 EFCC Arraigns One for Alleged N6.8m Fraud in Abuja The Abuja Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, arraigned one Idris Gana Mohammed before Justice A M Abdullahi of the High Court of Federal Capital Territory, Maitama,  Abuja.  The defendant was arraigned on a one- count charge bordering on criminal misappropriation and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N6, 850,000.00 (Six Million, Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand, Naira only ). Count one of the charge reads. “That you Idris Gana Mohammed sometimes between 10th and 13th June 2026, at Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court, dishonestly converted to your personal use the aggregate sum of N6, 850,000.00 (Six Million, Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand only), being payment for a black Toyota Camry from Ampatech Nigeria Limited and hereby committed an offence contrary to Section 308 of Panel code law of the FCT and punishable und...

 Kidnapped Kaduna Catholic Priest Regains Freedom After Three Months In Captivity


The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan in Southern Kaduna has confirmed the release of Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, who was kidnapped in February 2026.


In a statement issued on May 12, 2026, the diocesan chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, announced that the priest regained his freedom after spending three months in captivity.


Fr. Asuwaye was abducted on February 7, 2026, when armed men suspected to be terrorists attacked his residence. The incident caused widespread concern among Catholics and residents of Southern Kaduna.


Reports stated that the priest was kidnapped alongside 10 parishioners from Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Karku, located in Kauru Local Government Area. 


Three people were reportedly killed during the attack.


According to the Diocese, Fr. Asuwaye is currently safe, stable, and receiving medical care.


The statement expressed gratitude to God and appreciated everyone who supported the Church through prayers and encouragement during the difficult period.


The Diocese also thanked Christians, religious leaders, and well-wishers for their solidarity and support while the priest remained in captivity.


Special prayer sessions and May devotions had been organised for his safe return.


Bishop Julius Yakubu Kundi of the Kafanchan Diocese described the support from the public as overwhelming and encouraging.


The Diocese further urged residents to stay united, vigilant, and prayerful amid the ongoing security challenges affecting Kaduna State and other parts of Nigeria.
