Anambra LG Commissioner Warns Against Politicising Town Union Offices, Urges Focus on Development

‎By Chisom Okpala

‎The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Barr. Vin Ezeaka, has cautioned individuals who perceive the positions of President-General and Town Union Executive as political offices to desist from such notions. He advised that these institutions should remain dedicated to community development and the collective interests of the people.

‎Barr. Ezeaka made this admonition on Friday, June 5, while receiving the Ugbenu Town Union Executive in his office at the Old Government House, Awka. He warned that such a mindset would foster discord and division rather than promote peace and order within society.

‎The Commissioner commended the existing peace in Ugbenu community and urged the Town Union Executives to make deliberate efforts toward attracting government developmental projects to their town while sustaining peace and unity among the people. “The Soludo administration remains committed to supporting any community-driven project that will improve the quality of life and address existing gaps within the state."

‎Earlier, the President-General of Ugbenu Town Union, Hon. Ephraim Madu, congratulated the Commissioner on his well-deserved appointment and stated that the purpose of their visit was to familiarise themselves with the commissioner’s office as well as to solicit professional guidance and counsel from an experienced authority in community affairs.

‎Also, the Secretary-General of Ugbenu Town Union, Comrade Ekpone Francis Emeka, commended the Commissioner’s extensive experience in community leadership and affirmed that Barr. Ezeaka remains eminently qualified for the responsibilities of local government administration.

‎The Emeritus President-General of the town, Hon. Samson Ojo, affirmed that Ugbenu remains distinguished as a peaceful community founded on equity and a strong spirit of brotherhood. “I am confident that the new Commissioner will uphold peace and facilitate the resolution of conflicts in communities where disputes arise,” he stated.
