 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

ABIA STATE POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS NOTORIOUS DRUG PEDDLERS: RECOVERS ILLICIT SUBSTANCES


*SUSPECTS*

1.David Chika Nwakamma, male, 50 years, of Amapuife, Osisioma LGA, Abia State.

2.Stanley Moses (a.k.a. “Rati Boy”), male, 33 years, of Njaba LGA, Imo State.

3.Ibe Chisom, male, 29 years, of Mbaise LGA, Imo State.

4.Austin GodsWill, male, 27 years, of Mbaise LGA, Imo State.


*EXHIBITS RECOVERED*

•Quantities of substances suspected to be hard drugs packaged for distribution.

•Suspected freshly harvested/planted cannabis.


*FACTS OF THE CASE*

1. Acting on credible and actionable intelligence regarding the cultivation and sale of illicit drugs in Osisioma, operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit Headquarters, on 16/07/2026, apprehended the above-listed suspects, all of whom are residents in Osisioma, Abia State, and recovered suspected hard drugs and freshly harvested cannabis, and suspected substances (cannabis ) packaged for sale. Investigations are ongoing.


2. The Abia State Police Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring that there is no hiding place for criminals in the State.
