 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

Host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu stood before the live audience and millions of viewers at home to lead the solemn memorial. He described Ogogo as one of the most versatile, respected, and influential actors the Nigerian film industry has ever produced. Ebuka highlighted the late actor's decades-long commitment to Yoruba cinema, emphasizing how his artistry and mentorship helped shape the careers of numerous younger talents.


During the tribute, Ebuka urged viewers to celebrate the indelible mark the veteran actor left behind, noting that his extensive body of work and the doors he opened for upcoming actors represent a legacy that extends far beyond the screen.


The Industry Mourns a Giant


The legendary actor passed away on August 23 and was laid to rest the following day, August 24, in his hometown in Ogun State. His sudden demise triggered an outpouring of grief from colleagues, fans, and key figures within the entertainment space. Among those who paid their respects was Nigeria's Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, who paid a condolence visit to the grieving family in Lagos.


Emotional Moments at the Fidau Prayers


In a related touching event, a poignant moment occurred during the Fidau prayer held for Ogogo in Ilaro. An eight-year-old Hausa boy wandered into the ceremony, initially thinking it was one of the actor's usual lively gatherings. Upon realizing the solemn nature of the event, the young child refused to leave. The compassionate response of the head cleric to the boy's presence reportedly deeply moved many of the mourners present, highlighting the late actor's cross-cultural appeal.

The emotional tribute coincided with a tense night of evictions in the Big Brother house. During the Sunday broadcast, housemates Sultex and Goddessa were evicted from the reality show, bringing their journey in the eleventh season to an end.
