 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

PRESS STATEMENT


CLARIFICATION ON THE CUSTODY OF JENNIFER JOSEPH ALIAS FATIMA  


The attention of the Bauchi State Police Command has been drawn to a series of social media posts regarding the custody of Jennifer Joseph, who is also being  claiming Fatima as her Islamic name. 


To set the record straight, the child in question was found in Bauchi and reported to 'E' Divisional Police Headquarters, Yelwa, Bauchi. During investigation, she was identified as a student who ran away from Bishara Dole Missionary School, Yelwa. She stated that she hails from Adamawa State and claimed to have converted to Islam in Adamawa through her grandmother, before being brought to the said school by an individual.  


The Command further wishes to clarify that, at the request of the parents and the Da'awah Committee, the girl was temporarily placed in the custody of the Bauchi State Orphanage and Vulnerable Children Agency. This arrangement was made to ensure neutral custody pending the conclusion of investigations.  


Both parties have been directed to report to the Command on Monday, 24th August, 2026 for the continuation of investigation.  


The Command strongly advises members of the public to desist from circulating unverified statements on matters under investigation. Such actions are capable of jeopardizing the outcome of the case and breaching the relative peace currently being enjoyed in the State.  


The concern citizens were enjoins to exercise restraint as investigation is still ongoing.  


CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+) reiterates that it remains the mandate of the Nigeria Police Force to protect the lives and property of all citizens and ensure their safety. He further commends the maturity, cooperation, understanding and respect being displayed by the leadership of both faith groups' in the course of investigation.
