 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

EDO POLICE COMMAND MARKS INTERNATIONAL YOUTH WEEK 2026 WITH PEACE WALK


The Edo State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Daaor, psc(+), mnips, on Friday, 21st August 2026, joined the global community in commemorating International Youth Week 2026 with a peace walk across Benin City.


The walk, which commenced from the State Command and passed through major routes including Sapele Rod, Ring Road, Airport Road, Vegetable Market Road and Okada Avenue, was aimed at promoting peace, unity, responsible citizenship and positive youth engagement.


The initiative also provided an avenue for the Police to interact directly with young people and members of the public, reinforcing messages on peace, security awareness and collective responsibility for a safe society.


The event was attended by the Edo State Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo, The Edo state Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Moses Agwinede, Police officers and other Youth Stakeholders. 


The peace work ended as the Command reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Police–youth partnerships and encouraging young people to shun crime and violence, embrace peace and contribute positively to the security and development of Edo State.
