PRINCESS EUGENIE’S NEWBORN DAUGHTER BECOMES 15TH IN LINE TO BRITISH THRONE AFTER BIRTH IN PORTUGAL. (PHOTO).

Princess Eugenie’s newborn daughter becomes 15th in line to British throne after birth in Portugal

Princess Eugenie’s third child has changed the order of succession to the British throne, with her newborn daughter now holding the 15th position.

Eugenie, 36, and her husband Jack Brooksbank, 40, welcomed their baby girl on August 3 in Lisbon, Portugal. The child, whose name has not yet been announced, joins older brothers August, 5, and Ernest, 3.

Although Eugenie’s children do not have royal titles, they remain in the line of succession. The arrival of her daughter moves Prince Edward, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth, from 15th to 16th place, with other royals following him also moving down one position.

Princess Eugenie is currently 12th in line, followed by her three children according to their birth order.

The current succession begins with King Charles, followed by his eldest son Prince William and William’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Prince Harry is next, followed by his children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Other royals ahead of Eugenie include Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice and Beatrice’s children.

The royal family’s official website has not yet updated the succession list following the birth. Previous updates have sometimes taken weeks or months after a new royal arrival.

Under the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, Eugenie’s daughter’s position will not change if she later has a younger brother. The law introduced equal succession rights for children born after October 28, 2011, meaning birth order takes priority regardless of gender.

Her birth in Portugal does not affect her place in the succession. Eugenie and Brooksbank have lived part-time in the country since 2022 due to Brooksbank’s work.
