 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

Trump urges judge to reject BBC bid to subpoena his children and son-in-law


 President Donald Trump is asking a federal judge to deny the BBC’s request for assistance in obtaining testimony and documents from three members of his family as part of his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the British broadcaster.

Trump’s attorneys argue that the BBC is seeking to use subpoenas against his daughter Ivanka Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner and son Donald Trump Jr. to gain politically motivated leverage in the case.

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Kuntz in Miami had not ruled on the dispute. Kuntz, who was nominated by Trump, took over the lawsuit from another judge less than a week ago. Court records did not immediately explain the reassignment. The previous judge had scheduled a trial for February.

Trump’s lawyers said a process server attempting to deliver subpoenas to Ivanka Trump and Kushner at their home in May was stopped by Secret Service agents, who said they were not authorized to accept the documents. The process server later went to Trump Tower in New York in an unsuccessful effort to serve Donald Trump Jr., according to the filing.

The BBC subsequently asked the court for permission to serve the subpoenas by certified mail rather than delivering them in person.

Trump filed the lawsuit in December, accusing the BBC of defamation over its editing of a speech he gave near the White House on Jan. 6, 2021. The speech occurred shortly before a mob of his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol as Congress prepared to certify Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory.

The lawsuit alleges that the BBC improperly combined separate portions of Trump’s remarks to create a misleading impression of what he said. Trump also claims the broadcaster released its documentary shortly before the 2024 presidential election in an effort to influence voters against him.

Trump’s attorneys contend that the BBC’s request to subpoena his family members is part of an overly broad and politically motivated discovery effort.

The BBC has apologized for the misleading edit but has denied that the documentary defamed Trump.
