 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 Anambra Women Living With HIV Benefit From Empowerment Support, Skills Centre Planned

Women living with HIV in Anambra State have benefited from equipment and financial assistance provided by the wife of the state Governor, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, to strengthen their livelihoods and promote greater economic independence.


The beneficiaries, members of the Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN), Anambra State Chapter, received the support as part of efforts to help them build sustainable sources of income and live productive and dignified lives.


Speaking during the engagement on Aug. 31, the Executive Director of the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA), Dr. Nkem Okeke, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for providing leadership and an enabling environment for programmes that support people living with HIV.


Okeke also appreciated Dr. Nonye Soludo for her commitment to the welfare and empowerment of vulnerable women, describing the intervention as practical support that complements healthcare services.


He disclosed that ANSACA was working towards establishing a dedicated skills acquisition and empowerment centre for women living with HIV.


According to him, the proposed centre would provide practical training in areas such as fashion designing, baking and other viable income generating skills, giving beneficiaries additional opportunities to earn a living.


“Our goal is not only to ensure that people living with HIV have access to treatment, but also that they are empowered to live healthy, productive and economically independent lives,” Okeke noted.


He stressed that an effective HIV response should address not only healthcare needs but also economic vulnerability, stigma and social exclusion.


The ANSACA boss urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the equipment and financial assistance, while assuring NEPWHAN of the agency’s continued partnership in programmes aimed at improving the welfare and quality of life of people living with HIV.


The initiative reflects a broader approach to HIV response in Anambra, combining access to treatment with economic empowerment and efforts to promote dignity, self-reliance and inclusion.
