EL-RUFAI FAMILY GIVES DEFENCE MINISTER SEVEN DAYS TO PROVE SOUTHERN KADUNA KILLING ALLEGATION OR RETRACT, APOLOGISE. (PHOTO).

El-Rufai Family Gives Defence Minister Seven Days To Prove Southern Kaduna Killing Allegation Or Retract, Apologise

The family of former Kaduna State Governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) opposition leader, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has given the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd.), seven days to provide evidence backing an allegation that the former governor planned killings in Southern Kaduna or publicly retract the claim and apologise.

The family made the demand in a statement signed by Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai and issued in Abuja on Monday, September 7, 2026.

The statement followed comments allegedly made by General Musa during a live broadcast of Politics Today on Channels Television on September 3, 2026.

According to the family, the Defence Minister alleged during the programme that El-Rufai “actively planned killings in Southern Kaduna” while serving as governor of Kaduna State.

Describing the allegation as grave, the family said no evidence was presented during the broadcast to substantiate the claim.

“While General Musa (Rtd.) is entitled to hold and express his personal opinions, the El-Rufai family is equally entitled to demand that such serious allegations be substantiated with credible evidence,” the statement said.

The family subsequently challenged the minister to either provide credible evidence in support of the allegation or retract it publicly through the same medium on which it was made.

It gave General Musa seven days from the date of the statement to comply, demanding either evidence or what it described as a “full public retraction and apology.”

The family further warned that failure to meet the demand would leave it with no option but to pursue “all appropriate legal remedies available under the law” over the allegation.

The statement was signed by Mohammed Bello El-Rufai on behalf of the El-Rufai family.
