Five Suspected Kidnappers Arrested In Sanga As Community Security Collaboration Intensifies
Five persons suspected of involvement in kidnapping activities in parts of Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been arrested following intelligence-sharing and community-based security collaboration involving the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Sanga Chapter.
The suspects were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Divisional Police Station in Gwantu by the Executive Chairman of Sanga Local Government Area, Hon. Anto Yakubu Usman, for further investigation.
The arrests come amid intensified security operations across Sanga and neighbouring communities. Recent military operations in the area have also led to the rescue of abducted persons, including a two-year-old child who was rescued at Tayu Village on September 16.
The Defence Headquarters has said troops of Operation Enduring Peace are continuing operations in Sanga as part of efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities.
Speaking after the suspects were handed over to the police, Hon. Anto Usman commended members of MACBAN, Sanga Chapter, for providing information and supporting efforts to identify persons suspected of involvement in criminal activities.
He stressed the importance of collaboration among residents, community associations, traditional institutions and security agencies in addressing insecurity.
The chairman urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to the appropriate authorities and called on young people across the local government to shun criminal activities and any conduct capable of undermining peace and security.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies, traditional institutions or relevant community authorities.
The development highlights the role of community-based intelligence in supporting formal security operations. MACBAN's Kaduna State leadership has also publicly condemned kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling and other forms of criminality, while calling for stronger cooperation among government authorities, security agencies, traditional institutions, farmers and pastoralist communities.
The five suspects remain in police custody pending investigation and further action in accordance with the law.
