 CARSPO 2026: DAY TWO FEATURES STRATEGIC SESSIONS ON SMART POLICING, ELECTION SECURITY The second day of the sixth edition of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers, CARSPO 2026, holding in Owerri, Imo State, has featured strategic lectures, discussions and an interactive session on Tuesday, 22nd September 2026. The sessions have focused on contemporary policing issues, strategic communication, operational preparedness and election-security management. The programme has also featured an interactive session with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, as senior police officers and resource persons continue deliberations on strengthening policing practice and security preparations for the 2027 General Elections.  JAMB Reinstates SIM and Email Update Service with Enhanced Security Measures


The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the reintroduction of its service allowing candidates to update their registered phone numbers and email addresses. This crucial development addresses the challenges faced by applicants who have lost access to their registered details, enabling them to regain control of their JAMB profiles through a newly controlled and secure process.


Effective Monday, September 21, 2026, the updated policy is specifically designed for candidates who can no longer access their previously registered GSM numbers or email accounts. The Board's decision, communicated by its Director of Communications, Fabian Benjamin, stems from the implementation of more robust identity and biometric verification protocols. These enhanced measures are aimed at significantly curbing fraud, impersonation, and any unauthorized alterations to candidates’ vital records.


Strict Procedures for Accessing the Service


While the new facility offers a lifeline to disadvantaged candidates, JAMB has stipulated strict conditions for its use. Each candidate is permitted to utilize this service only once. Furthermore, the process must be completed exclusively at designated JAMB CBT (Computer Based Test) centres, Professional Testing Centres (PTC), or Professional Registration Centres (PRC), which include applicable state offices.


Candidates wishing to update their details must adhere to the following steps:


    • Provide their new GSM number and/or email address.


    • Present a duly executed court affidavit, which must be scanned and ready for upload.


    • Log into their e-facility profile to make the required payment for the service.


    • Proceed to an authorized JAMB centre for mandatory biometric verification before any changes can be processed.


JAMB clarifies that candidates have the flexibility to request a change for their GSM number, email address, or both, depending on their specific needs.


Ensuring Fairness and Preventing Misuse


Emphasizing the one-time availability of the SIM swap and/or email change service, the Board strongly advises candidates to utilize this facility solely for genuine reasons. It also urges them to patronize only officially designated JAMB CBT centres to avoid falling victim to fraudulent activities.


This reviewed policy underscores JAMB's commitment to ensuring that candidates who genuinely lose access to their critical registration credentials are not unduly disadvantaged. The Board aims to balance accessibility with stringent security, protecting the integrity of the admissions process while supporting its applicants.
