LASPA BEGINS ADVOCACY AHEAD OF PARKING ENFORCEMENT, TAKES ROADSHOW TO IKORODU

The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has intensified its advocacy campaign ahead of the commencement of parking enforcement, with plans to hold an awareness campaign roadshow in Ikorodu on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The General Manager, LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, speaking in a meeting recently, disclosed that the increased advocacy was aimed at ensuring that businesses, vehicle owners and other stakeholders are adequately informed about their parking obligations before enforcement begins.

She explained that the enforcement exercise, which was initially expected to commence earlier, was shifted to the end of September to allow for broader public sensitisation and engagement.

While noting that voluntary compliance remains the Authority's preferred approach, Mrs. Adelabu emphasised that demand notices are issued with queries addressed before enforcement is undertaken. She urged business owners and corporate organisations to pay their parking dues through LASPA's official channels, warning against cash payments to unauthorised collectors.

She explained that the enforcement measures could include the clamping or towing of vehicles and, where necessary, the closure of defaulting businesses through due legal process.

"We always try our best to ensure that enforcement really is the last option," she said, adding that, in view of this approach, LASPA had decided to engage the media and other stakeholders more extensively this year to ensure that information about parking obligations reaches a wider audience.

The General Manager further disclosed that LASPA would work with the Police during the enforcement operations and deploy body cameras to document activities and enhance the safety and accountability of its personnel.
