 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 Melania Trump reportedly has no plans to join husband for major trip overseas as vanishing act continues


Melania Trump is not expected to join her husband on his mid‑September trip to Ireland, continuing a pattern of limited public appearances during his second term. 


Reports note that she recently resurfaced after a month away from the spotlight, making only two appearances before deciding against accompanying the president abroad. Her absence will leave Donald Trump to attend meetings with Irish leaders alone, adding to speculation about her reduced visibility.


The First Lady’s public schedule has been notably sparse. Analyses show she has appeared publicly on just 38 days in 2026, averaging one outing every six days, and she missed major events such as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and Senator Lindsey Graham’s funeral. 


Journalists have described her retreat from public life as a “vanishing act,” contrasting sharply with the traditionally active role of U.S. First Ladies.


Melania did reemerge in late August at the White House Rose Garden to promote her Fostering the Future Initiative, joking to attendees, “I heard you missed me? Here I am.” Still, she is also expected to skip the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, raising further questions about her approach to the role. 


Her limited appearances stand out against the backdrop of family challenges and political milestones, fueling ongoing interest in how she defines her position as First Lady.
