 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 Traditional Kingdom Names TV News Anchor Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma As Successor To Late King Oyo


A traditional Ugandan kingdom has selected TV news anchor Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma to succeed King Oyo Nyimba, who died last month at the age of 34.


The decision has sparked controversy within the kingdom, as it contradicts an earlier announcement by the kingdom’s prime minister that the late king, who was unmarried, had left behind a child who could serve as his heir.


Kijanangoma, a member of the royal family, is now set to take over the traditional leadership following the selection.


However, the decision has been rejected by some of the late king’s closest relatives.


Oyo’s sister, Princess Ruth Komuntale, and their mother, Best Kemigisa, have both opposed Kijanangoma’s selection, creating uncertainty over the succession.


The disagreement has drawn attention to the traditional succession process and could further intensify debate over who should inherit the late king’s position.


King Oyo Nyimba was one of Uganda’s most prominent traditional rulers and had occupied the throne since childhood. His death at 34 marked the end of a reign that lasted more than three decades.
