 U.N chief Guterres calls for countries fueling Sudan's war to be held accountable United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on Wednesday for countries providing weapons to the warring parties in Sudan that are used to attack civilians to be held accountable. "What is happening in Sudan is absolutely horrible. The humanitarian situation in Sudan is devastating. The level of suffering of the Sudanese people is intolerable," Guterres told reporters ahead of the annual gathering of world leaders at the United Nations in New York next week. Sudan's war, which erupted in April 2023 following a power struggle between the military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, has displaced more than 14 million people and created one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. THE DEATH TOLL FROM YOLA MARKET BOMB-BLAST YESTERDAY,HAS RISEN TO 45.

              The suicide bomber struck at around 1900 GMT yesterday thursday in the Jimeta district of Yola,the capital of Adamawa state.The Islamic group Boko Haram are suspected  to be responsible for the market blast.The death toll from the market blast at the market rose to 45 today friday.Police spokesman Othman Abubaka told pressmen that ''Ten more people died this morning,and around 40 people were wounded''.Adding to the 35 bodies that a senior policeman,who wanted to remain annymous,earlier said he had seen at the bomb blast scene.May their soul rest in peace,Amen.

                                                                   The death toll from the wednesday petrol station explosion in Ghana's capital Accra has risen to at least 150.Ghana's president John Dramani Mahama has declared three days of mourning,as officials commence investigation on the cause of the massive tragedy.The blast occured as people sought shelter at Goil filling station,and nearby shops,to escape from the heavy down pour.It is a pity people so full of life,lost their life that way,but i keep getting the thought that someone among the crowd in the filling station must have been smoking just to keep warm,and that might have started the fire.That is my own theory and the police should not over look it.More photos below.                         ...

                    Today thursday,the House of Representatives passed the lingering Petroleum Industry Bill {PIB}.The House after considering an Ad hoc committee report on 312 sections and 438 clauses,unanimously passed the bill into law.Chairman of the Ad hoc committee on OIB,Rep.Ishiaku Bawa {PDP Taraba} submitted the report of the committee's assignment to the House in March 2015.The committee had scrutinised the sections and annexure of the original bill and made some amendments and recommendations.The public hearings also conducted by the 23 member Ad hoc committee in all the geo political zones provided opportunities for stakeholders to make their contributions to the bill.The bill which covered salient areas in the petroleum industry,is to ensure the establishment of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund and Incorporation of National Gas Company.Others are the establishment of the Petroleum Directorate and National Asset Management Com...

DANGOTE GROUP TODAY,OPENED A $500 MILLION CEMENT PLANT IN ETHIOPIA.

                         According to sources,Dangote Group today thursday,opened a $500 million cement plant in Ethiopia.The new plant is in the western Ethiopian district of Mugher at a site some 85 kilometres from the capital Adidis Ababa,which is surrounded by green pastures but is quickly becoming one of the country's main industrial hubs.The plant will initially produce 2.5 million tonnes a year in a country whose population of 90 million only consumes around 70 kilogrammes of cement per capital annually and the company said it plans to further expand its out put.Nigeria's annual per capital consumption is 127 kilogrammes.Aliko Dangote said in a speech that ''We are going to double this plant.A reliable power supply was one of the attractions that lured the investments to Ethiopia''.
