 U.N chief Guterres calls for countries fueling Sudan's war to be held accountable United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on Wednesday for countries providing weapons to the warring parties in Sudan that are used to attack civilians to be held accountable. "What is happening in Sudan is absolutely horrible. The humanitarian situation in Sudan is devastating. The level of suffering of the Sudanese people is intolerable," Guterres told reporters ahead of the annual gathering of world leaders at the United Nations in New York next week. Sudan's war, which erupted in April 2023 following a power struggle between the military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, has displaced more than 14 million people and created one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.                  GTB,Fidelity and Diamond banks has been suspended by the Nigerian Customs Service {NCS} over their non compliance with the partnership agreement with the agency on the matter.The Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Customs service,Mr Wale Adeniyi,made the fact know in an interview with NAN in Abuja today monday.He said the suspension became effective immediately.Adeniyi named the banks as GT Bank Plc,Fidelity Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc and called on relevant stakeholders to take note of the new development.''The three banks were suspended because they did not discharge their full obligation as partners in the customs revenue collection scheme.Unfortunately,they failed to discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the terms of the agreement they signed with Nigeria Customs Service.We might not be able to provide you with the details now but we believe that in the course of our investigations,we will be able to prov...

           The Ghanaian Government in a statement today said that the Ghanaian authorities yesterday sunday arrested a 36 year old man who carried a weapon into a church where President John Dramani Mahama and his family worship.The unidentified man was arrested after his fidgety and suspicious behavior was noticed during the morning service at an Assemblies of God church in Accra.According to a statement signed by Communications Minister Edward Omane Boamah said  ''He was escorted out by security personnel and following a search,the weapon was found''.The statement did not provide other details about the suspect or the weapon that was allegedly found but further said the president and his family were not in the church at the time of the incident.

                    Today monday,President of Somalia gave a defiant warning to al-Shabaab insurgents a day after they killed at least 13 people in a bomb attack on a hotel that houses several diplomatic missions.The White House strongly condemned yesterday bombing calling it ''abhorrent Attack''.Somalia government security officer Ahmed Ali said ''The devastation was huge,and so far 13 people,all of them innocent civilians,have been confirmed dead.Some of the wounded died last night,while other bodies were covered under the wreckaged of nearby building''.The Jazeera Palace hotel is home to the diplomatic missions of China,Qatar and the United Arab Emirates,and is popular among Somali government officials and foreign visitors.Beijing said on monday one of its embassy staff was killed and three others slightly wounded.AU troops helped rescue survivors,including Kenya's ambassador to Somalia.

A 2 YEAR OLD GIRL DEAD,15 HOUSES BURNT DURING A FIRE OUTBREAK YESTERDAY IN BAYELSA STATE.

               Yesterday saturday,a two year old baby girl died in a fire outbreak which rendered many people homeless today sunday in a suburb area of Ovom Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.NAN correspondent who visited the scene learnt that the fire,which destroyed no fewer than 15 houses in the area,started at about 8pm yesterday saturday.The incident occured opposite the Law Faculty of the Niger Delta University {NDU}popularly known as BGS in the area.The fire which damaged millions of naira worth of properties where said by eyewitnesses to be caused by candle light.The 2 year old girl that died,her mother locked her up in the house while she was selling in their shop because the girl was sleeping before the fire started.Eyewitnesses said ''Right now,the parents of the 2 year old girl are yet to be found''.
