UPDATE: GOV. EL-RUFAI SIGNS AMENDED RAPE LAW OF KADUNA STATE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has signed the Kaduna State Penal Code (Amendment) Law 2020. The amendment updates the penalties for the offence of the rape of a child. These new provisions include the punishments of surgical castration and bilateral salpingectomy for male and female convicts of child rape, and death. In addition, such convicts will be listed in the Sex Offenders Register to be published by the Attorney-General of the state. Following Malam El-Rufai’s assent to the amended law on 11th September 2020, the new law has come into effect in Kaduna State. It introduces stricter punishments than the previous law which carried a maximum penalty of 21 years imprisonment for the rape of an adult and life imprisonment for the rape of a child. Under the amended law, the punishment for the rape of a person older than 14 years will include surgical castration or removal of fallopian tubes, but the death penalty shall not apply. The Nigeria Police Force has announced that the entrance examination of the Cadet Scheme for the 8th Regular Course into the Nigeria Police Academy will hold on Thursday, 17th September 2020, at designated centres across the country. A statement signed by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, CP. Hakeem Odumosu, stated that the interview for Lagos State indigenes will also come up same day at JKK House, 299, Ikorodu Road, Ilupeju, Lagos. While wishing all applicants luck during the examination and interview, Odumosu urged all applicants to be punctual and observe all NCDC COVID-19 protocols and refrain from any form of examination malpractices.

Veteran Nollywood Nwobodo died on Sunday September 13, shortly after collapsing in her car at St. Mulumbas Catholic Church, New haven, Enugu. It was learnt that she was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead. Her corpse has been deposited at the morgue pending conclusion of her burial arrangement. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.

    Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has taken a giant step towards fulfilling his Rescue Mission in the health sector by launching the Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA). Governor Lalong while Launching the program as the number one enrollee, said the initiative will reduce the burden of citizens of the State particularly the poor and vulnerable.    The 58-year-old actor was called to Bar today September 15. Five years ago, the actor took everyone by surprise when he enrolled for a Law degree at the University of Abuja. He graduated in 2018 and went to the Nigerian Law School where he passed the examinations in July 2020. He shared a photo of himself after his call to the bar and wrote ''To God be all the Glory. You can now address me as Anayo Modestus Onyekwere, Esq, MFR ( Barrister And Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria)'' Congrats to him!
