*PRESS RELEASE* EDO POLICE CONVENES POLITICAL PARTIES, SETS SECURITY TONE FOR 2027 ELECTIONEERING The Edo State Police Command has convened Chairmen of political parties, candidates and other key stakeholders in the electoral process for a strategic security meeting ahead of the 2027 electioneering campaigns. The meeting, held on Wednesday, 16th September, 2026, was designed to strengthen engagement between the Police and political actors, promote early understanding of security expectations, and establish a framework for peaceful and lawful political activities across the State. Addressing participants, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, psc(+), mnips, emphasised that the role of the Police is to create the conditions for lawful political activity to thrive, not to participate in the political contest, and stressed the need for responsible conduct and sustained cooperation with security agencies. A man,who falsely presented himself as a staff of the EFCC,in Gombe state has been sentenced to fourteen years in prison by the High Court of Justice Gombe State.The EFCC haf charged the convict,Muhammad A. Adamu,for impersonation when he claimed to be a staff of the Commission to the Executive Secretary of Gombe Muslim Pilgrim's Welfare Board in order to extort money and other benefits from the board.He told the Secretary that the latter was under investigation by the Commission,presented a list of false officials of the Gombe zonal office and demanded unspecified amount to induce the officials,the Secretary claimed in his petition to the Commission's office in May 2015.Other charges include attempt to commit an offence under the Advance Fee Fraud that attracts a penalty of four years in prison without option of fine,being in possession of forged documents a offence under the penal code and also attracts both fine and imprisonment.The judge also ordered that the convict pay a restitution of N45,000 {forty-five thousand naira} to one Musa Haruna being the sum the convict falsely collected from him and a fine of N50,000.00 {fidty thousand naira} respectively.Barrister S.M.Aliyu prosecuted the case for the Commission''.
