 *PRESS RELEASE* EDO POLICE CONVENES POLITICAL PARTIES, SETS SECURITY TONE FOR 2027 ELECTIONEERING The Edo State Police Command has convened Chairmen of political parties, candidates and other key stakeholders in the electoral process for a strategic security meeting ahead of the 2027 electioneering campaigns. The meeting, held on Wednesday, 16th September, 2026, was designed to strengthen engagement between the Police and political actors, promote early understanding of security expectations, and establish a framework for peaceful and lawful political activities across the State. Addressing participants, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, psc(+), mnips, emphasised that the role of the Police is to create the conditions for lawful political activity to thrive, not to participate in the political contest, and stressed the need for responsible conduct and sustained cooperation with security agencies. US House Approves Bill Barring Transgender Athletes from Competing in Gendered Sports


The United States House of Representatives has passed a bill prohibiting transgender men from competing in men’s sports and transgender women from participating in women’s sports.


House Speaker Mike Johnson announced the development on Tuesday via X, stating, “Today is a great day in America because House Republicans just passed @RepGregSteube’s Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act ensuring men cannot compete in women’s sports. Men are men, women are women, and men cannot become women. It’s just that simple.”


This decision comes ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week. Trump, who previously banned transgender individuals from serving in the military, is speculated to revisit such policies during his administration.
