 *PRESS RELEASE* EDO POLICE CONVENES POLITICAL PARTIES, SETS SECURITY TONE FOR 2027 ELECTIONEERING The Edo State Police Command has convened Chairmen of political parties, candidates and other key stakeholders in the electoral process for a strategic security meeting ahead of the 2027 electioneering campaigns. The meeting, held on Wednesday, 16th September, 2026, was designed to strengthen engagement between the Police and political actors, promote early understanding of security expectations, and establish a framework for peaceful and lawful political activities across the State. Addressing participants, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, psc(+), mnips, emphasised that the role of the Police is to create the conditions for lawful political activity to thrive, not to participate in the political contest, and stressed the need for responsible conduct and sustained cooperation with security agencies.  House Of Reps Passes Bill To Establish State Police Services 

‎

‎The House of Representatives has passed the Constitution Alteration Bill for the establishment of State Police Services in Nigeria. 

‎

‎This followed consideration and voting on the provisions of the Executive Bill at the Committee of the Whole chaired by Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen. 

‎

‎Amidst a rowdy session, the Speaker announced that 311 members voted in favour of the bill. 

‎

‎Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Kalu led the debate for the consideration and passage of the bill, stressing that it is intended to deepen Nigeria's federal system by decentralising policing, improving public safety, and giving states a greater role in protecting lives and property.
