 Netflix announces new Sesame Street movie as long-running children’s show continues “Sesame Street” is heading to the big screen with a new movie in development at Netflix. The streaming service announced Thursday that it is developing the film in partnership with Rideback and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind the long-running children’s series. The announcement comes as Netflix renews its agreement with Sesame Workshop for Season 62 of “Sesame Street.” Additional episodes from Season 57 are scheduled to arrive on Netflix in late November. The movie is part of Netflix’s broader effort to expand its preschool programming with new series, films and games featuring familiar characters and educational content. “Sesame Street” first premiered on Nov. 10, 1969, and features Jim Henson’s Muppets. Somali Immigrant Charged With Murder After Fatal Shooting Outside Portland ICE Facility


A Somali immigrant is facing murder charges after a man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in front of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Portland.


Mahmoud Said Ali, 42, who lists Mogadishu as his hometown, was arrested early Saturday and booked into Multnomah County Jail on charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.


According to Portland Police, the shooting occurred around 4:10 a.m. near the intersection of South Bancroft Street and South Macadam Avenue. The victim, 41-year-old Anwar A. Osman of Portland, was shot multiple times. His vehicle then rolled downhill and crashed into a building. Officers located Osman inside with gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene.


Police said the two men knew each other and that Ali fled following the shooting. He was taken into custody Friday evening after the department’s Special Emergency Reaction Team and crisis negotiators located him.


Authorities stated the incident does not appear to be related to any ICE operations and that the location’s proximity to the federal facility appears to be coincidental.


The case is adding to ongoing debate over crime and immigration in Portland and other major U.S. cities.
