 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  UNIZIK announces reason for Ban on “Signing Out”


Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has clarified its decision to ban the popular “signing out” celebrations after final exams.


In a statement issued on August 26, 2025, the management explained that the ban became necessary after the activities degenerated into chaos  including reckless driving, loud music, alcohol abuse, masquerade displays, and even armed escorts.


The university noted that it had earlier warned students in April 2024 but the practice persisted into the 2024/2025 session. An official notice on August 19 reaffirmed the ban, warning of sanctions for defaulters.


The management of UNIZIK stressed that the measure is aimed at maintaining discipline, safety, and a conducive academic environment.
