 Former Kennedy Center employees allege leadership delayed roof repairs before citing safety issues in closure decision Former Kennedy Center employees allege that the venue’s leadership knew about serious structural problems well before citing newly discovered hazards as the reason for its abrupt closure this month. The claims were outlined in a letter to Congress from a lawyer representing anonymous whistleblowers. The letter accuses the center’s executive director and chief operating officer, Matt Floca, of failing to prioritize roof repairs and stopping a funded repair plan in April. Floca disputes the allegations, saying recent inspections revealed that water damage had spread farther into the building than officials previously knew. In a September court declaration, Floca cited “acute risks to public safety” following an inspection that found deterioration in a roof terrace canopy and a partial ceiling collapse. ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTIST, RECOVERY OF LOCALLY MADE SINGLE-BARREL PISTOL


In the ongoing efforts of the Lagos State Police Command to combat cultism and other violent crimes across the State, operatives of the Command have arrested a suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity cult group and recovered one locally made single-barrel pistol in Mushin.


Following credible information on cult-related activities at Ogunmokun Under-Bridge, Mushin, operatives immediately mobilised a surveillance team to the area and arrested one Segun Alani, ‘m’, aged 24 years. A search of the bag in his possession led to the recovery of one locally made single-barrel pistol, which was concealed inside the bag. The suspect is currently in Police custody and providing useful information to aid the investigation.


The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, has commended the operatives for their prompt response and intelligence-driven operation. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to disrupting cult-related activities and recovering illegal firearms across Lagos State, while warning cultists and other criminal elements to desist from their activities or face the full wrath of the law.
